For those of you who are still unsure about this whole blogging thing, here's a helpful map to guide you through this crazy series of tubes we call an internet. I can't wait for the day where I can seriously ask someone, "so what part of the internet are you from?"
The map is from a web comic named XKCD, which is the ultimate comic for tech humor-stick figure enthusiasts. Just to give you a taste of some of the comics I'll be taking a look at, here's a few sites that are guaranteed to rock your face off.
1. This was the first comic I compulsively refreshed until it was updated. I sat motionless for days, a slave to a complete stranger who gave me a good chuckle 2-3 times a week. Can you blame me? The Author has since retired his side projects to focus on his larger comic books, but a rare post is a gift that I savor and gnaw at down to the bone.
2. Penny Arcade is the gold standard of all web comics. If Tycho and Gabe didn't show up in this blog soon, I may as well be ignoring Peanuts or The Far Side if this was based on old-fashioned, last century paper comics. I'll get into much more detail later on, but this team has been building an empire since 1998 that now includes million dollar charities and massive gaming conventions. I'd pick out some favorites, but I can't force myself to pass over the thousands of comics that are just solid gold. Make it your start page, check it every day. No need to thank me.
3. A Softer World is one of the more unusual comics out there, and will be very interesting to take a closer look out later on because of how it could never translate into a traditional newspaper format. The hilarious juxtaposition of sentimental photography and text that quickly turns vulgar and shocking is never a disappointment.
Plenty more to come.

First!!!1!!1!
I'm well aware that posting here is well overdo at this point, but I've hesitated for good reason: I haven't come up with a single decent idea for a web comic yet, and frankly King's doesn't offer many art courses. Due to my complete lack of creativity (and inability to draw even the simplest of stick figures), I've decided to show my hand now before someone calls me out on it: I plan on being an unoriginal hack.
However!
This will be accomplished in the most tasteful way possible, and hopefully encourage you to check out some of the comics I plan on ripping off in my brand new, state-of-the-art(MS Paint) web comic tribute site! Each week, I shall painstakingly replicate the artistic and comedic styles of a different web comic, along with commentary in this blog that explains why I've selected the comic, what it's known for, and some of the highlights of the series.
Stay tuned!
Or... just read the real comics. Shit, I'm wasting the semester. :(
